Inter Active Traces

Exhibition in Seventeen Gallery, East London.

Inter-Active-Traces was a group exhibition of five women and non-binary artists.

My installation, Imagining Lost Histories, brought together literature, portraiture and conservation to imagine lives missing from the historical record. Developed in collaboration with artist Curtis Holder and conservator Alan Derbyshire, the exhibition centred on our creation of an imaginary painting of a young Tudor woman from my novel The Girl in the Locket.

The exhibition featured an early manuscript of the novel, Curtis Holder's preparatory sketches, the traditional tools used to create Tudor portrait miniatures, and behind-the-scenes photographs by William Davy.
